A publication that preceded Goodbye to Berlin, this pamphlet consists of the one story, a character sketch of Isherwood's enigmatic friend from Berlin. The story went on to become the opening section of Goodbye to Berlin, and there were contract disputes with the Press over the repetition of the story in the later collection.
