Woolf writes to Knopf on discovering that Knopf has sold the American rights of The Gentleman from San Francisco for $40 to Pocket Books Inc, he informs that these rights were originally sold to Seltzer by The Hogarth Press and that this agreement means they need 50% of the proceeds received by Knopf. He asks how they acquired these rights.
