Sir Hugh Walpole,
90 Piccadilly, W.1.

8th August, 1940.

Dear Sir Hugh,

I should like to draw your attention to a novel, proofs of which we have sent to The Book Society, by a young Indian called Ahmed Ali. The title of the book is Twilight in Delhi, and it is a most moving and poetic account of the Moslem world of Delhi, - a subject that as far as I am aware has never been treated in an English novel. Morgan Forster thinks it is quite unique, and other people I have already shown it to are loud in their praises.

Yours sincerely, | John Lehmann
