As part of the centenary celebrations of the Hogarth Press taking place around the Annual Virginia Woolf conference at the University of Reading this year, we are inviting letterpress artists and printers to submit works on paper relating to the broad theme of ‘Virginia Woolf and the Hogarth Press At 100’.

Works may respond to a variety of themes including:

– hand-press and letterpress work in the first machine-age

– publishing in wartime

– art as therapy

– women’s writing

– modernist printing

– the author as publisher

– the book arts and aesthetics of the Hogarth Press

Deadline 5 May 2017.

Single sheet works may be submitted on any sized paper.

Artist’s name and any contributing designers, imprint, the location of press and other printing details may be included on the print.

Artists are encouraged to share work, in progress or complete, via social media: please tag @UoRHogarthAt100 and use the hashtag #HogarthPress100 #woolf2017

We will also be posting works we receive on our Twitter and Instagram pages, including works in the exhibition and those we were unable to display. We will be sure to credit all artists, however if you have access to either Twitter or Instagram and would like us to credit you via your account, please include details of your social media handles with any work you send in.

If you do not want your work published, please make us aware.

Please send work to Rachael Rogers, Hogarth Press At 100, Special Collections, The MERL, University of Reading, Redlands Road, Reading, RG1 5EX.
