Copyright

Copyright subsisting in archival material made available via this website is retained by the respective rights holders and does not belong to MAPP.

Except where indicated and as otherwise permitted by law, reuse of text or images that are displayed on this site (collectively, the “MAPP material”) may require prior written consent from the copyright holder and the user is solely responsible for ensuring that any necessary permissions have been obtained.

MAPP cannot grant permission to reuse material and does not warrant that reuse of MAPP material will not infringe the rights of any third party. Users of MAPP material must comply with all applicable copyright and related rights legislation.

All enquiries must be directed to the copyright owner(s) or their authorised representatives. Where identifiable, copyright owners and authors’ estates are referenced in the credit line accompanying each item ("Rights Holder") and should be contacted in advance of any reuse requiring rights holder authorisation.

Some manuscripts, metadata and original research outputs displayed on this site have, where indicated, been made available with the rights holder’s authority under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0), the full terms of which are available via http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/legalcode.

Where applicable, this permits reuse of licensed material for personal research and private study, teaching purposes and student assignments, and other non-commercial uses, subject to compliance with the licence conditions. Licensed reuse is contingent upon an accompanying credit line identifying the specified attribution parties, including the holding institution, and licensed material may not be copied or distributed without this information.

We operate a take-down policy and will act swiftly to remove any material from public view in accordance with the rights holder’s wishes, pending further investigation. MAPP is an international collaborative digital project, with partner institutions in the UK, USA and Canada. MAPP’s purpose is to make difficult-to-access archival material available and share materials housed in our respective collections. Copyright clearance as required is undertaken by the individual institution contributing material for this purpose, and any takedown requests will be assigned and processed accordingly.
