Dear Morgan*1,
Pharos is being considered by Harcourt Brace, and now the incorrigible nibblers, Putnam's, are nibbling. My being away may create difficulties if there is an offer, and so I want to lay my plans ahead. My feeling is that we should try to get a normal American royalty of 10% and a small sum, say £25, in advance of royalties, cut that if they will not pay an advance, to be satisfied with a royalty. Would you agree to my doing this, or would you prefer my tr[y]ing to screw more out of an offer?
Yours | Leonard [signature]
