Letter from The Hogarth Press to Elkin Matthews Ltd. (02/11/1934)

Library:

University of Reading, Special Collections

The Hogarth Press refer to the enquiry regarding the binding of the two editions of The Common Reader stating the number of copies printed for each and providing descriptions of each edition (they give the dates of the first printing as 1925 and the second as 1926). The uncertainty surrounding the edition of the book is due to there being no indication on the title page that it is the second edition. The press compares the copy that has been sent, to their own on file, and confirms that it is a genuine second edition.
